Biography
On August 16, 1995, at 6 years old, Ray Alfalla moved from Matanzas, Cuba to the United States with his parents. When he first started watching motorsports on television, it didn't take long for him to attend his first race and become passionate about the world of motorsport.
Through the years, Alfalla always had the desire to get behind the wheel of a real racecar. However, like most motorsport enthusiasts, didn't have the financial backing to fulfill his dream.
To fill the void, Alfalla turned to online racing in 2003. He quickly proved to be a very skilled virtual racer utilizing NASCAR Racing 2003 by Papyrus. He has many accomplishments1, but one of the finer moments includes a championship in Dale Earnhardt Jr's invite only virtual league - DMP. Many NASCAR drivers, including Dale Jr, Brad Keselowski, Martin Truex Jr, Denny Hamlin and others raced in this series for numerous years.
In 2008, the iRacing Motorsport Simulator was released to the public. As the simulator really started to gain popularity, the need for a World Championship grew. In 2010, the top 50 drivers within the oval racing service were selected to compete for $10,000 and the title of the NASCAR iRacing Series World Championship (NiSWC).
Ray didn't have the inaugural season he could have hoped for in the NASCAR PEAK Antifreeze iRacing Series, finishing with one win and eighth in the overall standings. However, 2011 and 2012 would result in a combined eight wins in 35 starts (the most of any driver) and two consecutive World Championships to his name. In 2016, he won his third World Championship, setting new single season records for top 5's, top 10's, and average finish. Then, in 2018, he won his fourth NASCAR iRacing World Championship.
Alfalla currently competes in the NASCAR iRacing Coca-Cola Series sponsored by Virtual Racing School and supported by Slip Angle Motorsports. He is a four-time world champion and has earned over $52,500 USD during his career on iRacing; currently fourth all-time.
