Introduction

The 24 Hours of Daytona is a 24-hour endurance race held at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, FL. It marks the first major auto race of the year in the United States. It also marks the start of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, known as the Rolex 24.

The first ever Daytona 24 hour race was in January 2015, conducted in fixed weather conditions and 24 hours of daylight.

On it's first anniversary in 2016 the race was hosted in night time conditions in fixed weather conditions for 24 hours.

2018 saw the introduction of a new class into the race, GTE cars made their debut.

2019 saw the true 24 hour simulation with a day night cycle introduced.
